MOLECULAR LABORATORY: RE-PRESENTING TIME

2006. As artist in residence with Egenis (a multi-disciplinary research group based at Exeter University reearching the impact of genomics on socity) Deborah was introduced to the Washington Singer laboratory where she made a series photographs using a pinhole camera. Using very long exposure times allowed unexpected imagery emerged; equipment and ghostly traces appeared as if connected through unseen actions. A fascination with these interactions between humans and technology became central to the thinking behind the work.

The development of this body of work was supported by ICIA (the Institute of Contemporary Interdisciplinary Art). The work was exhibited at Art Space 1, March – June 2007 at University of Bath. The body of work is in the University of Bath collection.
